The program highlights student experience in a U.S. university as well as how Fulbright Finland Foundation programs, services, and partnerships can be utilized to expand U.S. exchange opportunities. The U.S. Department of State’s USA Study Abroad branch, the Fulbright Finland Foundation, and the Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA) organized a global webinar series "Internationalization of Higher Education in the COVID-19 Era" with eight sessions between November 2020 and June 2021. Over 1 400 attendees from 67 countries participated in the series. All sessions are available on YouTube.
The aim of the series was to raise awareness of the changing landscape of U.S. study abroad and international education, to strengthen foreign institution’s hosting capacity for U.S. students, and to increase participation in higher education strategic partnerships and engagement with U.S. university counterparts. The series aimed to pave the way for long-term collaboration between higher education institutions around the world with those in the United States to increase and diversify American study abroad, as well as faculty exchanges for research, lecturing, and partnership building.
Workshop on Best Practices in Hosting U.S. Students and Visiting Scholars

The workshop brought together hosts of U.S. students, teachers and scholars from Finnish HEIs, and provided them with an opportunity to share and discuss best hosting practices. The workshop was facilitated by an experienced administrator in the internationalization of higher education, Leasa Weimer, Assistant Director of Strategic Partnerships at the Fulbright Finland Foundation.
IIE Generation Study Abroad International Symposium (GSA)

Fulbright Finland Foundation partnered in the IIE Generation Study Abroad International Symposium (GSA) in Helsinki on September 2018. This was the first GSA Symposium taking place outside the United States. The Symposium aimed to help U.S. and Finnish institutions in their partnership building efforts to increase student mobility.

The workshop aimed to help Finnish higher education institutions in their efforts to establish and maintain well-functioning partnership agreements with U.S. universities, and to increase student and staff mobility between Finland and the U.S. A reception hosted by the Finnish Ministry for Education and Culture concluded the workshop program.
Fulbright Capacity Building Workshop: Fulbright Center Services & Attracting U.S. Students to Finland

This two-day workshop introduced strategies to help Finnish universities to better attract American students by discussing their perspectives and motivations for study abroad. The first day focused on the internationalization services provided by the Fulbright Finland Foundation, while the second day centered specifically on attracting U.S. students to study in Finland.
