Finnish Winter and Packing Tips

How to dress up for the Finnish winter? Please check out this video for some tips!

January is a winter month in Finland. The weather, especially in Central/Northern Finland, will be cold and snowy. When packing for this type of climate, we recommend packing many layers of clothing. During the program we will be spending time outside in the nature, so please remember to pack warm outdoor clothing. Hats and scarves are highly recommended as well as warm and water resilient winter boots and gloves. Bring a set of outdoor pants with you. The participants will also be introduced to the most Finnish experience during the program - sauna. Please pack a swimsuit with you. Finnish hotels have hairdryers in the rooms so there is no need to bring those from the U.S.

Electric sockets are different in Finland, so remember to pack an adapter as well as a converter for electronics that you will need during your stay. Please also bring your COVID-19 vaccination card with your just in case.

For travelling we recommend to bring one big suitcase that goes to the cargo hold and one carry-on luggage and a purse/laptop bag as maximum. We will be changing hotels once during the program.
